Mummy Bauxite, is a natural rich mahogany, a perfect compliment for mixing warm and complex blues. In our trio, it provides a neutralizing tone to create ruddy and neutral blues with a vintage feel. The mineral’s name comes from Les Bauxite in southern France where it was first identified in the 19th century. Our modern Mummy Bauxite, a PrimaTek® pigment, is extremely lightfast, semi-transparent and low-staining. You get the tonal warmth and depth of traditional Mummy with the modern assurance that the color is strong, stable and consistent.

Duochrome Cabo Blue, a color shifting luminescent watercolor, adds coolness and light to our trio. Best described as an icy blue or as the color of piercing blue eyes, Duochrome Cabo Blue is simply stunning. Use this pigment to liven up a winter landscape—the mica particles it contains will add shimmer and sheen. In mixtures, Duochrome Cabo Blue adds sparkle. Create a cool, twinkling blue by mixing with Prussian Blue or a unique brown-violet shine with Mummy Bauxite.

Prussian Blue, a staple on many watercolorists’ palettes, is a deep and stunning blue known for its clarity and strength. It has a slight green bias, making it a wonderful choice for use in dark green mixtures. Paint bold passages of color or take advantage of its rich tone for shade and shadow. This versatile color is nearly black at full strength but mellows to a soft sky blue when thinned with water. Prussian Blue becomes a granulating indigo when mixed with Mummy Bauxite.
