Cerulean Blue, is a staple in many watercolorists’ palettes due to
its remarkable color strength and wonderful mixing properties. This semi-opaque
blue, whose name comes from the Latin word for sky-blue pigment, is bold enough
for the brightest summer day or can be mixed to many variations of gray. The
green bias of Cerulean Blue makes it a natural color choice for ocean waves and
stretching seas.

Iridescent Sunstone , is the sunny, sandy sparkle that gives your
entire coastal scene a sea-worthy finish. The light glimmer of sand, the pearly
surface of shells and the magical sheen of the sea all benefit from Iridescent
Sunstone’s subtle shimmer. Mix with Cerulean blue for the mysterious luster of
tumbled sea-glass or layer over Hematite Burnt Scarlet for a sun-streaked glaze
of sand. This soft, luminescent color has a slight bronze finish and a sweet
pink undertone.

Hematite Burnt Scarlet a DANIEL SMITH exclusive, is an adventurous
take on earthy reddish-brown. This Primatek® pigment is one of the most
interesting granulating pigments offered; dark orange-brown areas settle in a
field of rust colored paint for maximum texture. The unique surfaces of shells
and sand seem to paint themselves as the pigment settles into the pockets of
watercolor paper. Mixtures of Hematite Burnt Scarlet and Cerulean Blue create
blue-gray rocks and cliffs with ruddy texture and deep shadow tones.
