Product Description

The Whelan Press-PRO.  21st Center Technology

Inspired by the desire to increase accuracy and performance, Whelan Press has brought 15th century printing traditions into the modern age. The Whelan Press is a truly unique design.Developed over four years in a working print lab, it incorporates an innovative, fixed press bed and a smaller diameter spring loaded print roller. The press is light in weight and maneuverable, becoming especially nimble with the caster construction, the Whelan Press can easily fit through narrow doorways.

Stationary Press Bed

  • No leveling required. The press bed is fixed and does not roll. It can be used as a work surface when not printing, making it adaptable to multiple uses.
  • Since the bed doesn't move, the press requires 40-percent less floor space.
  • No bed warp. The bed is fixed on all sides and conforms to the shape of the print rollers.
  • Safe design. No rolling bed or bed stops to maintain.

Spring Loaded Print Roller

  • Self-leveling. The most critical and difficult adjustment is automatic, allowing a novice printer to produce professional results.
  • Force is applied as the floating spring-loaded upper roller is lowered onto the plate surface. This compresses the disk springs on either side of the upper beam assembly. As the springs are compressed, more force is applied to the plate accurately, consistently and most important, measurably. Direct relationship to spring force and pressure produces accurate and repeatable results, taking the guesswork out of how much pressure is required.
  • Vertical movement of the print roller allows for climbing stacked plates, expanding possibilities for the artist. This is a revolutionary feature never available before.
  • The spring stack expands pressure range beyond that offered by other presses. This gives artists greater control and flexibility for making fine adjustments.
  • Both the fixed press bed and unique sprint stack make the Whelan Press extremely safe. A big concern in schools and open labs is the risk of damage to press and injury to students when objects are run under print rollers. Whelan Press springs minimize this risk significantly.
