Paint as good as you can imagine Daniel Smith Ultimate Acrylics are made with the same professional pigment load, innovative colors, lightfastness standards and permanence as our oils and watercolors. Daniel Smith Ultimate Acrylics offer numerous advantages over other leading brands:
Greater Pigment Load
More pigment means more color. This gives our paints exceptional vibrancy, clarity and tinting strength. When you look at the color chart and see the paint in masstone (straight from the tube) and mixed 1:1 with Titanium White, the pigment strength is obvious. More pigment also saves you money. Whether you mix DANIEL SMITH UltimateTM Acrylics with white paint, water, acrylic medium or any of the various gels, their greater pigment strength means you need less paint to achieve your desired result.
Lightfastness and Permanence
By using inherently lightfast pigments, both natural and synthetic, we've created a line of paint that will last. Each color has been fadeometer tested to simulate years of aging in just a few days. Of our 59 colors, 57 exhibited almost no color change and are rated lightfastness I. The proprietary acrylic medium we use is also permanent and will maintain its flexibility and won’t yellow over time.
Longer Open Time
Fast drying is the greatest blessing and, sometimes, greatest curse of acrylic paint. Because of the medium and formulations we use, UltimateTM Acrylics remain wet and brushable longer than competing brands. You get the easy reworkability of acrylic painting without the frustration caused by too-fast drying. Colors are easier to mix and duplicate, brushstrokes are smoother and handling is superb.
Minimal Wet-to-Dry Color Change
This is a great advantage when you’re trying to match colors from a previous painting session. Lapis Lazuli is the one exception, darkening considerably as it dries.
Less Odor and No Fillers
Acrylic paints typically have a sharp chemical smell. Ours are made with a proprietary acrylic medium that minimizes that odor, making painting more pleasant. Our acrylics contain no fillers or extenders just pigment and medium. You can use DANIEL SMITH UltimateTM Acrylics with any other acrylic paints and mediums on the market. Because of the flexibility and adhesive nature of the medium, they can be used on canvas, panels, paper, fabric, wood, metal, plastic and many other materials. They’re easy to clean up and don’t need varnishing.
You’ll love ’em. Guaranteed.
