BLACK
Etching Inks
Made with lightfast artist pigments, our high quality etching inks
are the inks of choice for many professional printmakers. We make
seven different black etching inks, each with its own characteristic
color and consistency. Below we have listed them from 1 (warmest)
to 7 (coolest). Our Standard Black #7 and Intense Black #99 are the
most popular, but you really should try them all!
Matte Lithographic Black #75--Most traditional lithographic
blacks are made from carbon black pigment. Our Matte Lithographic
Black is made from lamp black pigment, which has its own beautiful
surface quality and is less prone to bronzing than carbon black inks.

Domestic Velvet Black AC-63 is one of the most beautiful
lithographic inks produced, with a very rich color and surface quality.
When printed, this ink seems to stand away from the surface of the
sheet. It is made with a combination of pigments and is similar to early
lithographic inks.
1 lb. Can
$13.98
Crayon Black #68--This stiff-bodied ink, made from carbon black
pigment, is warm in color and non-greasy--despite its heavy body.
This makes it easy to control on delicate crayon areas. By working the
ink prior to rolling it out, the body will relax, making it easier to use.
1 lb. Can
$13.98
Greasy Roll-Up Black--Our version is identical to Charbonnel's
Noir A Monter Black and is much more affordable. Many lithographers
use this ink to roll up a reluctant image and then etch it and put it
away for a couple of days. The image often blooms as a result. This
ink is warm in color and also can be used for printing editions.
1 lb. Can
$13.98
Roll-Up Black #3--We use the same carbon black pigment in Roll-
Up Black #3 as in our Classic Black, but Roll-Up #3 has a stiffer body.
Through the inclusion of other materials, it is more acid-resistant than
other inks. You can print editions with it, as well as use it for roll-ups.
1 lb. Can
$13.98
Classic Lithographic Black #100 is our most popular carbon black
ink. The Classic is fairly soft in body and warm in tone.
1 lb. Can
$11.98
