hen we set out to create our own acrylic paint, we set out to
make the best. So we formulated each color to meet the fol-
lowing criteria:
Greater Pigment Load
More pigment means more color. This gives our paints exceptional
vibrancy, clarity and tinting strength. Whether you mix DANIEL
SMITH Ultimate Acrylics with white paint, water, acrylic medium
or any of the various gels, their greater pigment strength means you
need less paint to achieve your desired result.
Lightfastness and
Permanence
By using inherently
lightfast pigments, we
created a line of paint
that will last. With few
exceptions, they exhibit
almost no color change
and are rated lightfast-
ness I. The proprietary
acrylic medium we use
is a permanent material.
It will maintain its flex-
ibility and won't
yellow over
time.
Longer Open Time
Fast drying is the greatest blessing and, sometimes, greatest curse
of acrylic paint. Because of the medium and formulations we use,
Ultimate Acrylics remain wet and brushable longer than competing
brands. You get the easy reworkability of acrylic painting without the
frustration caused by too-fast drying. Colors are easier to mix and
duplicate, brushstrokes are smoother and handling is superb.
Minimal Wet-to-Dry Color Change
This is a great advantage when you re trying to match colors from
a previous painting session. Lapis Lazuli is the one exception, darken-
ing considerably as it dries.
Less Odor and No Fillers
Acrylic paints typically have a sharp chemical smell. Ours are
made with a proprietary acrylic medium that minimizes that odor,
making painting more pleasant. In paint as in many things, simpler is
better. Our acrylics contain no fillers or extenders, just pigment and
medium.
You can use DANIEL SMITH Ultimate Acrylics with any other
acrylic paints and mediums on the market. Because of the flexibility
and adhesive nature of the medium, they can be used on canvas,
panels, paper, fabric, wood, metal, plastic and many other materials.
They're easy to clean up and don't need varnishing.
You'll love 'em. Guaranteed.
