The Objective of this course is to introduce the structure and function of plants, botanical terminology for these structures, and how the scientific botanical artist must portray this information for the scientific community. Please bring several Plastic Zip Lock Glad® Bags or similar in several sizes for plant specimens. The sketchbook is for class, but you will be using both tracing paper and drawing paper for assignments. Be sure to get a cork from a wine bottle so you can safely cork your straight needle. The list below includes both the usual drawing supplies and the dissection tools you will need for the class. Tweezers, or bent nose tweezers, are also helpful if you have one on hand.
The Academy suggest that you purchase 4 each of the four types of pencils listed below or as you current supply demands.
