Introducing AQUA WASH Ink by Charbonnel, a new line of water-soluble, high quality Inks for all forms of intaglio, lithography, monotype and relief printmaking. Developed over a period of years, Charbonnel has made these odorless, non-solvent based inks to meet the demand for School and Artist Studio use without the need for chemical solvents for clean up.
AQUA WASH inks are cleaned up with soapy water. These highly pigmented inks are made with several emulsified, water-soluble oils that do not contain water and will not rust plates or tools, although it is advisable to wipe them dry after washing them with water.
While Charbonnels’ traditional inks are made with linseed oils and those oils are not toxic, the solvents used to clean up the tools, plates, presses and artists hands do have toxicity concerns. Those concerns have made it challenging for schools and studios to continue some of their printmaking programs. This makes AQUA WASH especially useful for classroom printmaking programs and for artist studio use since solvents are not needed for clean up!
AQUA WASH are made with the same high quality pigments, and high pigment concentration as their traditional inks. AQUA WASH have a similar drying time to Charbonnels’ traditional inks, are lightfast and permanent when dry. AQUA WASH inks are used in the same manner as traditional inks, except that for intaglio, the papers do not have to be as damp. AQUA WASH inks have similar viscosity to Charbonnels’ traditional inks, and soften a bit with mixing.
