Smart protection for your valuable artwork! Crescent Select Matboards meet strict conservation standards. They're made of 100% virgin alpha-cellulose (wood pulp) fibers that have been chemically treated to eliminate acids and lignins that can degrade the matboard and the artwork. Conservation grade surface papers provide optimum bleed and fade resistance. Surface, core and backing papers have a pH of 7.5-9.5, and are buffered with calcium carbonate to an alkaline reserve of 3-5%. Calcium carbonate absorbs and neutralize pollutants such as acetic acid, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen. Acid- and lignin-free, these buffered alpha-cellulose matboards are suitable for minimum levels of conservation framing and are a great alternative to non-conservation matting. They're recommended for fine art prints, limited edition, photographs and valuable documents.
