Alizarin Crimson is a deep red with a slight blue bias. This traditional color has a rich burgundy masstone that reveals a light rose when mixed with white. It's a useful color for rosy cheeks and lips in portraiture as well as mixing radiant violets. Alizarin Crimson is a fugitive pigment and UV varnish is recommended for paintings that will be exposed to sunlight.
