Moonglow (PG18 PB29 PR177) 15ml Tube, DANIEL SMITH Extra Fine Watercolor

Water frees this amazing three-pigment blend to perform miracles. Watch and wait as Anthraquinoid Red floats, Ultramarine Blue settles and Viridian grays the resulting violet color. Selectively blot and lift a surface wash to expose delicate blue-greens. A description of the fascinating light and dark washes can never match a personal experience!

Use Moonglow in shadows and as a silhouette pigment and enjoy its reaction to salt application in background washes. Its neutral tinting property makes it effective with almost all the Daniel Smith watercolors. Try introducing the Luminescent Interference pigments to areas of wet, damp or dry Moonglow. Look to Undersea Green as a companion pigment. And try a Moonglow sky and long shadows on sunset snow scenes.

Fabulous shadow colour
Quality
How would you describe the quality of this product?
Excellent. Lovely granulation and a beautiful way to get luminescence into shadows. Love the way the pigments separate.
Performance
How did this product perform compared to your expectations?
I didn't really know what to expect and was very happily surprised.
How would you describe the consistency?
Consistency seems very good, no problems at all.
Use
How did you use this color in a painting?
As a shadow colour mostly. It goes well with earth greens. I use it sometimes with a neutral tint to darken it further and have also used it with ultramarine.
Value
Was this product true to its value?
Yes
Overall Experience
What was your overall experience with this product?
It's a real pleasure to use. I like to let colours mix on the paper rather than pre-mix, so this is a really handy addition to the palette.

Beautiful, unique shade
Quality
How would you describe the quality of this product?
This is a beautiful multiple pigment mixture that creates a gorgeously granulating wash, and is a colour unique to Daniel Smith. The description seemed a little "marketing fabulous" but the paint preformed true.
Performance
How would you describe the consistency?
There was a glob of clear (gum arabic?) right at the front, but the rest has been fine so far.
Use
How did you use this color in a painting?
Mixes beautifully with Undersea Green
Overall Experience
What was your overall experience with this product?
I was having a bad day and bought convenience mixture paints. You don't have to have a bad day as an excuse for this colour. It might not be one of those pure colours (single pigments) for colour theory or intense mixing sessions - but much like how life is much better with dessert every now and then, this paint is just a decadent bit of fun.
