The Gallery Wood frame from Nielsen Bainbridge features a full 1-1/2" deep rabbet (the area under the lip of the frame), which makes it perfect for framing 3-d items in a shadowbox format, stretched canvases, or matted items with 8 ply, double-thick mats or using multiple mat layers (triple mats, double mats with risers for pastels, wrapped mats with deep bevels and so on).
