GOLDEN Extra Heavy Gel, Gloss Finish, Quart
GOLDEN Extra Heavy Gels have a thicker consistency than GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylic colors. The thickest of GOLDEN gels, along with the High Solid Gels, it is perfect for heavy textural painting. Blend with colors to increase body. Excellent for holding peaks, carved incisions, and impasto techniques. Dries translucent and flexible.
GOLDEN Gel Mediums offer artists many ways to build texture. They range in consistency from pourable to moldable with varying degrees of sheen and transparency. They can be used to create glazes, extend paints and change finishes. Some gels incorporate pumice, glass or acrylic granules that impart unique reflective, rough or absorbent surface qualities.
Gels can be thought of as colorless paint, as they are composed of 100% acrylic polymers similar to acrylic paint. They can also act as adhesives in collage and mixed media that dry to form continuous films with excellent flexibility with chemical, water and UV resistance. /p>
Gels come in different surfaces: gloss, semi-gloss and matte. Gloss Gels dry to a clear, almost glass-like luminosity. They have no matting agents added, and do not change the quality or color of paint to which they are added. The Semi-Gloss & Matte Gels have matting agents added, reducing luminosity. The matte version of Gels does not have the luminosity of the gloss or semi-gloss gels. Matte Gels are stiffer and appear a bit "cloudy" or satin-like because of the addition of matting agents. Matte Gels will affect the color of the paint. Other Gels like Fine Pumice Gel have solids in them and dry to an opaque finish, not the clear, glass-like luminosity of Regular Gel (Gloss).
