Stiff...springy...smooth...our Autograph Black Sable's the brush for every oil technique. Dan Smith Autograph Series 46 Black Sable Oil Brushes are wonderful new all-purpose tools for oil painters. Softer than Chungking hog bristle but stiffer than Kolinsky Red Sable, Russian Black Sable combines the advantages of controlled, bristle-like strokes with a smooth application that won't mark paint layers. These brushes are great for delicate blending and smoothing out ridges left by bristle brushes - invaluable assets for portrait and realist painters. The larger sizes have great color-carrying capacity. Black Sable hair is so smooth that only certain master brush makers can hold onto it without it slipping through their fingers. Seamless, nickel-plated brass ferrules and hand tapered edges make these brushes durable and luxurious.

Rounds taper to a sharp point and have excellent spring. Strong, resilient Brights can move large volumes of oil paint with smooth brush strokes for large area work, and can also delicately blend colors while holding a firm edge. Filberts combine the assets of both rounds and brights. Thick bellies allow maximum color loading and delicate edges and points hold their shape even after heavy use.
