How can I track the status of my order?
Once an order is placed, you will recieve an email confirming your order.
You will also be emailed when your item has shipped. In the event that your items are shipped
in multiple shipments (as in the case of backordered items or drop-shipped items), you will be
notified by email for each subsequent shipment.
When available, the tracking number for the package carrier will be included in your email
notification. If the tracking number field is blank in your email, it is because the particular
carrier does not provide tracking service.
If you would like to check the status of an order that has not yet left our warehouse, please
call Customer Service at 1-800-426-7923 (please have your Order Number ready).

How do I shop online?
There are three ways to find the product you are looking for on Daniel Smith Online. Searching,
browsing or Catalog Quick Order.
Searching allows you to enter keywords for the product you are looking for. For instance,
if you are interested in "watercolors", enter that keyword into the "SEARCH" box of our site and hit
your ENTER key or click the button next to the search box. You will see a list of categories and
products that contain that keyword, allowing you to narrow your search.
Browsing. The product navigation menu can be found on the left-hand side of the page.
Clicking on a main category (such as "Paint") will reveal its subcategories. Clicking through the
subcategories will allow you to narrow your search to the product you are looking for.
Catalog Quick Order. If you have a catalog, or know the 9-digit item number of the product
you are interested in, use Catalog Quick Order to quickly add that item to your cart. Catalog Quick
Order allows you to enter several item numbers at once, and quickly complete your shopping.
Once you find the item you are looking for, enter the quantity you wish to add to your cart, then
click "Add to Cart". Repeat this for each additional item you want. When you have completed your
shopping, click on "CHECK OUT" to review the items in your cart and complete your purchase.

Will you charge sales tax on my order?
Orders placed within Washington state will have applicable state and local taxes added to the order total.
The Federal Internet tax moratorium bars the imposition of new taxes on the Internet itself and things
like Internet access services. It doesn't change the applicability of state and local taxes to sales
transactions. Accordingly, Daniel Smith collects such taxes on the sale of merchandise online, based on rates
and rules applicable to orders placed from within the state of Washington. These tax rates and rules can change
at any time.
Internet Tax Freedom Act (ITFA) does not preclude sales and use taxes on any and all commerce conducted over
the Internet. State and local governments are allowed to impose sales and use taxes on all such electronic sales,
provided that the tax (and its rate) are the same as that which would be imposed on the transactions if they
were conducted in a more traditional manner, such as over the phone or through mail order.
Order totals calculated during checkout show estimated tax. Actual final tax amounts appear on the order
invoice, based on tax rates and rules applicable when the order is shipped.

Is placing an order through Daniel Smith Online secure?
We use 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to encrypt your credit card number and personal information.
This is the maximum encryption strength allowed by the federal government. You can verify this by clicking on the
Verisign Secure Site Seal on the Check Out page.
Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers indicate whether SSL is enabled by displaying a padlock icon in the
bottom of the browser window. (In Internet Explorer this padlock is on the right whereas in Netscape this padlock
is on the left).
To confirm that SSL is in fact in operation, use one of the following procedures depending on what browser
you are using:
Internet Explorer. Place the cursor on the page of want to know the security of and right click (Windows)
or Control-click (Mac) your mouse. A menu appears. In the menu click the Properties option. A dialogue box appears
with a field called "Connection". The Connection field indicates that SSL encryption is enabled. Note: On some
occasions the Connection field will say "Not encrypted." This is because the page you are on will not be passing
any sensitive information (name, address, credit card number, etc.) over the internet. This is typically the case
for our product pages.
Netscape. Place the cursor on the page of want to know the security of and right click (Windows) or
Control-click (Mac) your mouse. A menu appears. In the menu click the View Info option. A dialogue box appears
that indicates that SSL encryption is enabled. You can use these methods to check whether encryption is enabled
on other parts of the site as well.
